February 2019 Newsletter

Updated: Oct 25, 2019

February 2019 has arrived, and there are incredibly exciting things happening at Green Halo!

First and foremost—an update about our amazing scholars. Just over the past five months, our scholars have already received $965,628 in college scholarships from their early action applications and have been admitted to 86 colleges! Needless to say, this is just the beginning. Our scholars are continuing to work with us to apply for additional private scholarships as they await the next round of regular decisions. We are so proud to know that our students have secured viable and exciting options to pick from by the time they have to make their decisions on May 1st, 2019.

All of us are Green Halo are especially grateful for Giving Tuesday 2018, when we raised over $10,000 in just 24 hours! We want to sincerely thank you for your generosity and share with you how your contributions are helping our scholars become the leaders of tomorrow. It's a true testament to what a collaboration like ours can achieve.

  • Help fund GHS On-Site participation at Navy Pier in the upcoming fall

  • Enable us to commit to helping even more deserving students in 2019

  • Offer expanded resources to our scholars, including professional ACT/SAT preparatory classes and Uber reimbursements to support those without access to a car in getting to those classes

  • Support our leadership as we become members of the National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA), a premier association committed to providing collaborative learning, resources, and coaching for organizations like ours, working towards a day when all students have equal access to high-quality education and opportunities in college and beyond

We are looking forward to continuing the mission and driving purpose of our foundation to support underserved students from the Chicago suburbs with completing the college application process, exploring financial aid and scholarships, and planning for their future successes as they begin their academic careers. Our plan for the months ahead is to assist our GHS 2018 graduates with potential summer internship opportunities as they approach the end of freshman year in college, close out the application process for our current GHS 2019 scholars, and identify rising high school seniors for participation in GHS 2020 in the fall. We've been busy, but there's still more work to do!

Thank you for your amazing generosity, continued support and encouragement!

Always,

Vandana & Sally
