College Planning and Application Support

GHS helps students research college options, complete applications, and adhere to deadlines. Students attend the Chicago Scholars Onsite Admission Forum at Navy Pier in October to interview with college representatives and potentially receive onsite admission offers.


Counseling, Tutoring, and Mentoring

Students are paired with adult mentors from the Chicagoland area who are experienced in the college application process,

access to tutoring sessions through A+ Tutoring Services, Village Tutors, Nurturing Wisdom,

and counselors at College Bound Consulting.


Chicago Scholars Onsite

Green Halo Scholars has partnered with Chicago Scholars to collectively impact high-potential, under-resourced students from the Greater Chicagoland area. Through this combined effort, our students gain access to Chicago Scholars’ resources and events, such as the Scholars College Fair, First Look Career Conference and Fair, and the Annual Onsite Admissions Forum.




Exploring Financial Aid and Scholarships

GHS assists students in completing the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA)

for federal and state grants as well as private scholarship applications.


Finalizing College Decisions and Success Planning

GHS assists students in finalizing financial aid appeals, and evaluate college decisions with mentors. Summer workshops are available to prepare students for the academic rigor of university and to enhance leadership skills.



A Plus Tutoring generously donated 10 free sessions for 10 students at $3,200.00 each, the total value of $32,000.


Partnered College Bound Consulting (CBC),

who volunteered their time with assistance with essay writing with one on one sessions with Hinsdale South scholars.


Partnered with Village Tutors,

who have volunteered their time to help Hinsdale South scholars with ACT test prep.


Partnered with Chicago Scholars,

for our students gain access to Chicago Scholars’ resources and events, such as the Scholars College Fair, First Look Career Conference, 

and Fair, and the Annual Onsite Admissions Forum.


Forged a relationship with the University of Dayton president, Dr. Eric Spina.

We are working on a partnership with Green Halo and the University of Dayton increasing diversity in the enrollment of the student body, through college visits at GH high schools, increasing financial aid, and increasing scholarship opportunities for GH students.

The Community House in Hinsdale, IL, and Green Halo Scholars formed a strategic partnership in October 2019.

The driving purpose of the two organizations meets at the intersection of the educational needs of the self-motivated,

underserved student body at the local community high schools and their desire to see these scholars get into

and successfully complete college to become inspirational community leaders tomorrow.
