Claire Muraoka, recently retired after 30 years with a major oil and gas company.  Claire has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Master’s in Civil Engineering and started her career in operations.  She then moved on to various roles in performance management, strategy, business development and licensing.  She has worked in the UK, Russia and managed a global team covering Asia and the Middle East.  She and her husband Michael have two sons and one daughter.  All have managed to navigate through college which has provided Claire with an appreciation on the complexity and challenges faced by first generation college applicants. 

Irene Yates currently is a retired corporate tax executive, whose last two roles have been leading the global tax teams at McDonald’s Corporation and Univar Solutions. She also spent 19 years in various tax and business-facing roles at Procter & Gamble, including living for 5 years in Geneva, Switzerland.  Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Accounting, an MBA in international business and finance, and a law degree.
She and her late husband have twin boys who recently graduated from college at different universities.  She is excited to help Green Halo Scholars explore opportunities to find the right fit for them.

Kate Hendrix Foster is excited to be a member of the Board for Green Halo Scholars Foundation! She has over 12 years of experience partnering with students to pursue their desired college and career path and currently serves as the College & Career Academy Coordinator at Proviso West High School. She has an MA in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, an MS in Counseling and a BS in Education from Missouri State University. She is passionate advocate for her students and works diligently to ensure they transition to postsecondary education, enlistment, or employment with confidence! She is devoted to her students, both past and present, and enjoys serving as a trusted resource long after graduation. She looks forward to continuing to support the great work of the Green Halo Scholars as a member of the Board!

Nate Carden is a twenty-year resident of the Western Suburbs of Chicago, dad to children at the beginning and end of their college journeys, and active admissions interviewer for his alma mater.  He is deeply committed to supporting Green Halo’s mission of helping young people in the community navigate an unfamiliar and increasingly complex college selection and admissions process.  He is also passionate about mentoring emerging adults as they develop connections and build professional networks.  Separately, he is proud to serve as a board member of the Northern Illinois Food Bank.   In his day job, he is an attorney at a global law firm and specializes in assisting companies with cross-border tax disputes, negotiations, and arbitrations. 

Nupur Bahl is a Research Assistant in Population Sciences at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in Health & Human Biology, A.B., Honors, in May of 2020. Nupur’s research and professional interests are focused on the social context of health and disease as it relates to the intersection of medicine, ethics, and personal narrative. Originally from Burr Ridge, Illinois, Nupur is a Class of 2016 Hinsdale South alum and is proud to be working with the amazing group of students Green Halo Scholars gets to meet every year.
