Claire Muraoka, recently retired after 30 years with a major oil and gas company.  Claire has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Master’s in Civil Engineering and started her career in operations.  She then moved on to various roles in performance management, strategy, business development and licensing.  She has worked in the UK, Russia and managed a global team covering Asia and the Middle East.  She and her husband Michael have two sons and one daughter.  All have managed to navigate through college which has provided Claire with an appreciation on the complexity and challenges faced by first generation college applicants. 

Irene Yates currently works as head of global tax for Univar Solutions in Downers Grove, IL.  Prior to that, she held the same role with McDonald’s corporation.  She also spent 19 years in various tax and business facing roles at Procter & Gamble, including living for 5 years in Geneva Switzerland.  Her education background includes a Bachelor’s in Accounting, an MBA in international business and finance, and a law degree. She and her late husband have twin boys who are in college at different universities.  She is excited to help Green Halo Scholars explore opportunities to find the right fit for them.  

John Korntheuer is the College & Career Counselor at Proviso East High School.  The 2019-2020 school year is John’s third year as a high school counselor following 10+ years in higher education, most recently as a Director of Freshman Admission.  John holds a B.S. in Psychology from Bradley University and a M.A. in Counseling from Concordia University Chicago.  In addition to his counseling duties John coaches boy’s tennis for the Pirates.  He is married to Sarah, who also works as a teacher.  They have three amazing daughters.

Kate Hendrix Foster is excited to be a member of the Board for Green Halo Scholars Foundation! She has over 12 years of experience partnering with students to pursue their desired college and career path and currently serves as the College & Career Academy Coordinator at Proviso West High School. She has an MA in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, an MS in Counseling and a BS in Education from Missouri State University. She is passionate advocate for her students and works diligently to ensure they transition to postsecondary education, enlistment, or employment with confidence! She is devoted to her students, both past and present, and enjoys serving as a trusted resource long after graduation. She looks forward to continuing to support the great work of the Green Halo Scholars Foundation as a member of the Board!

Nupur Bahl is a senior studying Health & Human Biology, A.B., at Brown University in Providence, RI, but she calls Burr Ridge, IL home. As a Class of 2016 Hinsdale South graduate, Nupur focuses her academic work on the intersection of medicine, ethics, and narrative. Nupur has been passionately involved in mock trial during both her high school and college careers and has spent three years as a teaching assistant for introductory biology courses at Brown. She serves as an executive board member for the Rhode Island Chapter of Best Buddies and currently pursues research in an end of life care therapeutic technique called Life Review. Nupur has soft spots for cooking, flowers, teaching, and language and hopes to reteach herself the piano in the next five years.
